Demon Slayer has announced the 3rd season of the anime by Ufotable and it contains the Swordsmith Village arc. This arc is more flamboyant than the previous one, the Entertainment District arc.
In this blog, we will see everything about this arc such as what things does this arc contains, who the characters are in this story (hashira too), the main villain, and what to expect from this arc in the anime.
This is a SPOILER-FREE post!
First of all, when does this arc release for everyone to watch?
Swordsmith Village arc Release Date
As of now, no release date has been set.
Most likely it will release in late 2023 or early 2024 because Ufotable will try to take a good amount of time to make stunning animation once again for its beloved fans.
Demon Slayer Season 3 teaser was launched on 13th Feb 2022 stating that the anime will contain the Swordsmith Village arc.
The Prelude Of This arc
At first, Tanjiro arrives at the Swordsmith Village to replace his sword. He is directed to meet with the village chief and is told that his swordsmith (Haganezuka) was missing.
Tanjiro then meets a Hashira (discussed later in this post) and another new character (sort of) in the village. He later meets another Hashira in the woods and sees something interesting there.
Later, all of a sudden, two villains arrive at the village and wreak havoc. This starts the fearsome and long fighting between the demons and the demon slayers.
What Chapter does the Swordsmith Village Arc start?
The 9th arc of the Demon Slayer universe starts from chapter 100 in the manga and ends in chapter 127.
The manga has great art already but the animation will put the fight scenes in a new light and will be more intriguing to the eye. Whatever doubt a person has over the fight panels in the manga will surely be cleared in the anime.
In conclusion, in the manga the duration of this arc is:
- Start Chapter – 100
- End Chapter – 127
Characters in Swordsmith Village Arc
Multiple characters cover this arc that majorly focuses on the long fight with its main villain (discussed later in this post). The characters are:
- Kamado Tanjiro
- Nezuko
- Agatsuma Zenitsu
Other than these main characters, there is one more character that we need to look out for.
The Entry of Genya Shinazugawa
Genya is the brother of Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Hashira) who attacked Nezuko with his sword in the first Hashira meeting that the viewers saw back in season 1 of the anime.
He was seen in the demon slayer final selection exam in the first season along with Zenitsu and Kanao. Finally, his powers will also be introduced in the anime.
The Hashira in this Arc

The creation of the Hashira demon slayers was one of the best parts of the story. The previous two arcs focused on a single hashira each.
- In the Mugen Train arc, there was the Flame Hashira, Rengoku Kyojuro.
- In the Entertainment District arc, there was the flamboyant Sound Hashira, Uzui Tengen.

Have you wondered who is the hashira for the Swordsmith Village arc?
Well to be exact, there are two hashira demon slayers: Muichiro and Mitsuri.
1. Muichiro Tokito (Mist Hashira)
This guy is 14 years old and became a Hashira in just 2 months since picking up a sword. Truly, he is a prodigy.
2. Kanroji Mitsuri (Love Hashira)
This character will be a fan favourite as she seems to love everyone and also because she was trained by the other fan favourite character, Rengoku Kyojuro.
The most interesting thing about her is her sword, which can bend like a snake. This is extremely strange.
Who is the Swordsmith Village Arc Villain?
Any arc is incomplete without its main villain. Thankfully, like the Hashira in this arc, there are two villains.
1. Upper Moon 5
Gyokko is an upper-rank demon who resides in his vase. This guy is a strange demon as his character design is very different from the other upper moons as he doesn’t have legs!
2. Upper Moon 4
Hantengu, Upper rank 4 is a demon who can create his own clones based on human emotions. One clone will represent hatred, the other will represent joy, and so on.
Conclusion
The Swordsmith Village arc will hold a good amount of thrill as it includes a long fighting sequence, even longer than the entertainment district arc.
Tell me in the comments, who are you most excited to see in this arc?
